TIBER RIVER STUDY

Soaking up the slower pace of Italy and its appreciation for culture, art and academia was part of what Kim Nigro enjoyed as recipient of the Burnham Prize Fellowship in Architecture at the American Academy in Rome. She studied her subject– the Tiber River–on a daily basis in order to understand its complex political, natural, infrastructural, and spiritual layers. Through the combination of traditional and digital mediums, Kim’s series of sectional collages suggest a method of finding meaning and impetus for new visions of old places.
